GUNMEN KIDNAP FEMALE STUDENTS IN IKORODU, LAGOS

No fewer than three students of Babington Macaulay ‎Junior Seminary School, a private school in the Ikorodu area of Lagos, have been abducted by some gunmen.

It was learnt that the bandits stormed the school at about 8.30 pm on Monday and seized the children.

The ‎Lagos State Police Command confirmed that three schoolgirls were abducted. However unconfirmed reports said the number of the abducted students was more than three.

Lagos Countdown 2013




Preparations for the 2013 Lagos Countdown event has commenced.  Lagos State Signage and Advertisement Agency (LASAA) organizers of the event announced that the Lagos Countdown, a world-class celebration of the end of one year and the beginning of another in Lagos State will hold like last year.
  
Conceived by the State Governor Mr. Babatunde Fashola (SAN), in order to put Lagos on the global map and at per with top cities such as New York, Dubai, London, Sydney, and other major destinations that commemorate the cross over into the new year. Continue...


Venue for the event Just like last year, is the Bar Beach stretch, Victoria Island and will commence on 7th of December 2013 and culminate on the 1st of January 2014 with an official countdown into the new year.  
 
 Speaking on the event the Managing Director of LASAA Mr George Noah stressed that the Lagos countdown is about instituting an enduring crossover tradition, commerce, employment generation, leisure, entertainment and tourism. ‘’What LASAA is doing on behalf of the state government is leveraging the proposition of Lagos as a premium destination for business and leisure,” Noah said.
The 2013 event promises to be more exciting, with the parade of over top 40 Nigerian artists including TuFaceIdibia, Davido, Omawunmi, Bracket, J Martins, Morell, Duncan Mighty, Timaya,  Wizkid, Banky W, Tiwa Savage, Wande Coal, D’Prince, MI, Ice Prince, Burna Boy and Iyanya.
This event is arguably the biggest New Year's Eve celebration in Africa. Last year, the Lagos countdown had a 45 minute display of fireworks, the most spectacular ever seen in Nigeria. The 2012 Lagos Countdown was hosted by IkponmwosaOsakioduwa, also known as IK  with co-hosts AriyikeAkinbobola and Quest.  
 
The Lagos Countdown provides branding opportunities for sponsor companies. It is expected that the following companies will sponsor this year’s event: Nigerian Breweries, GT Bank, Dangote, Avenue suites. 





Will and Jada Smith step out in Vegas amid cheating rumours


These guys are unbreakable. Glad to see a couple like this in Hollywood. Despite recent reports that Will Smith cheated on his wife of over 16 years with his co-star, Margot Robbie, Will and Jada looked happy together as they stepped out in Las Vegas on Monday November 10th for their son, Trey Smith's 21st birthday. The couple and their children enjoyed a special dinner at Hakkasan at the MGM Grand. his lyrical dominance with a performance
of ‘Rap God’.
Katy Perry picked up her first Best Female
award, while Miley Cyrus won her first-
ever EMA for Best Video for ‘Wrecking Ball ‘.
Bruno Mars was victorious in the Best
Song category for ‘Locked Out Of Heaven’
and Justin Bieber kept his Best Male win
streak going for a fourth straight year.
Tokio Hotel fans rejoiced at the news that
they helped their favourite band snag

first ever Best Pop EMA. Chris Lee of China
kept Asia on top as she was named Best
Worldwide Act; an artist from Asia has won

Obi and Victor Moses have both been
shortlisted for the 2013 BBC African
Footballer of the Year award.
The five-man list which also includes Ivory
Coast’s Yaya Toure, Burkina Faso’s
Jonathan Pitroipa and Pierre-Emerick
Aubameyang of Gabon was released today
November 12, 2013.
The winner will be decided by African
football fans, who will vote through the
web and SMS. Voting closes on November
25, 2013.
Obi and Moses have had a fantastic run
so far – both players were part of the 2013
squad which won African Cup of Nations
held in South Africa.
Last year, Zambia’s Christopher Katonga
won the award, beating Demba Ba, Didier
Drogba, Younes Belhanda and Yaya Toure
to become the first winner from southern
Africa in the history of the award.
